March 2008) - For more than three decades, the Virginia Beach Neptune Festival has transformed the resort city of Virginia Beach into a colorful and festive tapestry of special events and family memories. Celebrating its 35th year in 2008, the Neptune Festival remains the city’s largest event and one of the most successful festivals on the East Coast. It has been recognized as among the top 100 celebrations in the nation and continuously ranked as one of the top ten festivals in the region.
This year’s Neptune festivities kick-off in the spring, and the fun continues with a myriad of events and activities leading up to and throughout the month of September. The festival’s grand finale is “Boardwalk Weekend,” Friday, Sept. 26th through Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, when three spectacular days and nights overflow with activities ranging from sporting events, a grand parade and a sand sculpting competition to a boardwalk art and craft show, fireworks and live musical entertainment enticing residents and visitors from across the mid-Atlantic to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront Boardwalk.

13th Annual King’s Invitational Golf Tournament, Bayville Golf Course

12th Annual Fall Wine Festival, Neptune’s Park 31st Street

Leading Virginia vintners will set up shop on the Virginia Beach oceanfront this fall during the 12th Annual Neptune Festival Wine Tasting. Sip and savor Chardonnays, Merlots, Rieslings and more against a stunning oceanfront backdrop coupled with gourmet food, live music and specialty vendors. 26th Annual Sandman Triathlon, 24th Street Park
Sunday, September 14
The event begins with a 1K open ocean swim, followed by a 14-mile bike race and concludes with a 5K run along the Virginia Beach Boardwalk in a grueling test of stamina and physical conditioning. Exact street location for the race’s 1K swim starting point will be determined on race day and will be at 17th or 33rd streets. Pre-registration is required. Cash prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners in both the men and women’s divisions.
