The 34th Annual Virginia Beach Neptune Festival is pleased to announce King Neptune’s Tritons for the 2007 festival. As part of the Neptune Festival Royal Court, the Tritons are nominated from among the business community and serve as aides to King Neptune and ambassadors of goodwill for the Neptune Festival and Virginia Beach during festival events throughout the year.
The following eight Tritons have been selected for 2007:
Eric Edward Apperson
Armada Hoffler Construction Co., President
Mr. Eric Apperson is the president of Armada Hoffler Construction Company in Virginia Beach. As president, Mr. Apperson oversees the overall management, strategic planning and financial health of Armada Hoffler Construction Company with a special emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with employees, clients, subcontractors and suppliers. Mr. Apperson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Hampden-Sydney College. He and his wife Lynn have two children, Brooks and Virginia and two family dogs. Mr. Apperson is a board member of the Virginia Beach Division of the Chamber of Commerce and enjoys golfing and fine dining.
Michael Benedetto
TFC Recycling, Executive Vice-President & Owner
Mr. Benedetto is the executive vice-president and owner of TFC Recycling. He is a fourth generation recycler and is involved in all aspects of the family business. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from American University in Washington, D.C. and immediately joined the family business, TFC Recycling, upon graduation in 1987. Benedetto was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Virginia Recycling Markets and Development Council. He also serves on the board of Habitat For Humanities in South Hampton Roads, as chairman of the BB&T Board of Advisors in Chesapeake, and is also an active member of the Rotary Club. Benedetto and his wife LeAnne have three children, Alexandria, Juliette and Marco. They are members of the Church of the Holy Family.
Gregg Eure, M.D.
Urology of Virginia, Urologist
Dr. Eure offers expertise in all aspects of adult urology. He has a special interest in prostate disease, erectile dysfunction, stone disease, no-scalpel vasectomy and oncology. Dr. Eure has gained a national reputation in the treatment of Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH). He received his undergraduate education at the University of Virginia and went on to receive his medical degree and completed his general surgery training at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Dr. Eure completed his residency in urology at Eastern Virginia Medical Graduate School of Medicine and is board certified in urology by the American Board of Urology. Eure also served as an assistant professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School. The American Urologic Association recently honored Dr. Eure by selecting him into the Young Urologist's Leadership Program. He serves as the research chairman for the Urology of Virginia Research Department and has written many articles and book chapters. He primarily practices at Sentara Virginia Beach Hospital where he is a member of many hospital committees. He helped found the local chapter of the prostate cancer support group, Man to Man. Outside of the medical arena Dr. Eure enjoys traveling, teaching, physical fitness, golf and tennis. Dr. Eure is married and resides in Virginia Beach. He has a son and two daughters.
John Littel, Esquire
AMERIGROUP Corporation, Executive Vice President
Mr. Littel is responsible for AMERIGROUP Corporation's external relations, including government relations, press and community affairs. He also is responsible for the Company’s charitable foundation. Before joining AMERIGROUP, Mr. Littel held a variety of positions in federal and state government, including the White House's Office of National Drug Control Policy, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, the U.S Senate, and for Governor George Allen as deputy secretary of health and human resources. Mr. Littel also held the position of associate dean and associate professor of law and government at Regent University. A recipient of Inside Business' 2003 Top Forty under Forty award, he is active in civic affairs and fundraising, including The Virginia Family and Children's Trust Fund, ForKids, Inc., and Virginia's Access to Health Care Initiative. Mr. Littel and his wife, Marianne, have three children, Katherine, Carter and Clay.
Frederick Napolitano, II
Napolitano Homes, Senior Vice President
Mr. Napolitano is the senior vice president of Napolitano Homes and currently serves as a life director on the boards for both the National Association of Home Builders and for the Tidewater Builder’s Association. Previously he served on the state board of directors for the Home Builders Association of Virginia, serving on the organization’s State Executive Committee, State Legislative Committee, and the Local President’s Council. He is currently a Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Foundation Trustee and just completed 8 years as a trustee for Cape Henry Collegiate School where he chaired the education committee. He is also a director for the Virginia Beach Chamber of Commerce, a member of The Parent’s Council at Hampden-Sydney College, and a member of the Great Neck Point Civic League. Mr. Napolitano and his wife Dabney have three children, Elizabeth, Fred III, and Joe. They are members of the First Landing Church.
David Rippy Sr., CPA, ABV
Goodman& Company, LLP, Partner in Charge of the Virginia Beach Office
Mr. Rippy is the partner in charge of the Virginia Beach office of Goodman & Company LLP. He serves as chairman of Goodman & Company’s accounting and audit committee. He has over twenty-five years of public accounting experience and is a firm wide resource in the area of business valuations. His current clients include automobile dealerships, retail, private schools, real estate, not for profits, government contractors, wholesale distribution and manufactures. Mr. Rippy attended East Carolina University and received a Bachelor of Science in accounting and a Master of Business Administration. He received a certificate of educational achievement in business valuations from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Currently Mr. Rippy is a board member of Virginia Beach Rotary International, treasurer for the Judeo-Christian Outreach Center, past committee chair and Volunteer of the Year for the Virginia Beach Neptune Festival. Mr. Rippy and his wife Lisa have two children, Lee and Kristen.
Michael Francis Trainor
Compass Technology, Executive Vice President Sales, Marketing and Business Development
Mr. Trainor serves as executive vice president sales, marketing and business development for Compass Technology, a Hampton Roads firm focusing on software solutions for the nonprofit market. Mr. Trainor has over 28 years of experience as a senior executive in a variety of industries spanning Fortune 200 to entrepreneurial start-ups. These include media and publishing, sports marketing, real estate, financial services and software development. Previously he was the chief operating officer of Liberty Tax Service and served as the chief operating officer of Home-Link Services, Inc. a web-enabled home services provider. He has also held several executive positions with Cendant Corporation. He was executive vice president at Century 21 Real Estate from 1996 - 1998 and from 1998-2000 he held the position of president and CEO of Jackson Hewitt Tax Service, which first brought him to the Virginia Beach area. Early in his career he held a series of management positions in advertising, media and publishing, including associate publisher of the New Yorker magazine, advertising director of Esquire magazine and vice president of marketing and advertising for USF&G Financial Services. Mr. Trainor began his career in management with Oscar Mayer following his graduation from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in marketing. He and his wife Barbara have two children, a daughter Lindsay and a son, Ryan.
John E. Uhrin
Burlage Management, Director of Operations and Virginia Beach City Council Member
Mr. Uhrin is the director of operations for Burlage Management where he currently oversees the management of six hotels. A native of Virginia Beach, Uhrin was elected in 2006 to the Virginia Beach City Council representing the Beach district. He attended Old Dominion University and received his bachelor degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Finance. He began his career in the hospitality business as a groundskeeper for the Schooner Inn Hotel while still in high school and later joined Burlage Management in 1991.

Each year, the Neptune Festival attracts hundreds of thousands of people to the Virginia Beach oceanfront. Attendance in 2006 was estimated in excess of half a million, generating approximately $18 million in economic impact for the City of Virginia Beach. Now in its 34th year, The Neptune Festival is produced by a private non-profit organization and directed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
