Artist: Devon Miller
About the Artist: Devon Miller is a lifelong artist and native of Virginia Beach. A graduate of JMU, Devon first worked as a corporate and freelance designer for 10 years. Eventually, her focus turned back to more traditional media like painting and drawing. She now teaches art at First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach and loves working with her students to explore creatively. She fell in love with mural work in 2018, and has leaned into that as her current favorite medium. Her murals feature bright, bold imagery, and her recent work has included some recurring themes like hands, the sun and the sea. The art she is most proud of has been for organizations close to home like Samaritan House and Virginia Beach City Public Schools, and is now so honored to be working with the Neptune Festival – her most exciting project yet!
About the Artwork: In honor of its 50th Anniversary, the Virginia Beach Neptune Festival will commission a mural artist to design and paint a mural that is reflective of the heritage of the Neptune Festival as a celebration of Virginia Beach and its citizens. The artist will paint a version of this mural that will serve as this year’s Commemorative Poster artwork. We will unveil this design on Tuesday, June 4th.
The 2024 poster is 18″x24″ and suitable for framing.
